A national campaign to educate and inspire young people about a healthcare career.

HCA is concerned about the continuing shortage of nurses and we are committed to responding with a full-scale program to promote careers in nursing and to bolster the ranks. The continuing shortage of nurses was the genesis in July 2003 of an aggressive recruitment campaign called BeANurse@HCA Cultivating potential nurses and nurturing current nursing professionals is the cornerstone of our effort.

How does the BeANurse Campaign work? With CD-ROMs, accompanying written materials, posters, reply cards, video programs, links to hospital Web sites, and television and radio spots, the BeANurse@HCA campaign is designed to build our professional ranks so that each of our healthcare professionals can do their job with the compassion, skill, and integrity that they expect of themselves.

HCA’s BeANurse Campaign Goals:

Educating young people, middle and high school students by underscoring the value and benefits of a nursing career

Reaching and recruiting two- and four-year college nursing and radiology students, as well as experienced healthcare professionals

Creating working relationships with students, educators, community leaders, and current healthcare professionals to promote the advantages of a healthcare career

Using television and radio to share HCA’s commitment to the communities it serves and to raise public awareness of the importance of nursing

We will reach out to more than 300,000 students and current healthcare professionals in HCA’s Central Atlantic Division. And this is just the beginning of our effort. Our campaign will also focus on other clinical areas of need and will encourage and educate young people in the value of all healthcare professions.
